How Often Do You Wash Your Hair?

Post by Warner »

I was googling something and one of the suggestions before I was finished typing was "How often should you wash your hair?" Being curious, I searched for that and ran across numerous sources saying you should wash your hair only about every other day or a few times per week...

All of my life I have been shampooing and conditioning my hair every day. Am I the only one who was completely unaware of this supposed common knowledge? How often do you all wash your hair?

I do it once or twice a week in the summer, depending on what physical activities I do, if I sweat, I'll do it, but if not then it'll probably be like once a month in the winter.

What are we, women-folk?

That said, my hair is a bit over 6 inches long in most places, and I wash it every time I shower or it gets weird. So that averages to about once every day.

I have the opposite problem. My hair is more often than not rather dry. Shampooing and conditioning keeps it from getting nasty.
Or maybe thats a product of said shampoo and conditioner...

Damn circles.

Generally speaking, the longer your hair gets, the less healthy it is to shampoo it daily (for the aforementioned reasons of stripping the hair of the oil it needs).

Plus, as some of the women-folk will surely verify; long hair takes time to wash, so there's a convenience factor to skipping that part of the shower when you're rushing to get out the door on time. Throw that shit in a ponytail and be on your way.

My hair's relatively short, so i wash it every day. But not with shampoo, I only use that stuff once or twice a week.

Word. And no conditioner. Head & Shoulders (or equivalent WalMart brand), lather it in, rinse it out, no repetition required. Once a day, during my daily shower.

I need to wash my hair right now. It's all greezy for some reason, plus it got all dirty when I got under the FC today. I really need a haircut bad, I hate when my hair gets this long (it's almost legitimately 'long' now, I can put it in a short ponytail  ) I need to wash it in 2 stages, get the top first, then again to cleanse the beautiful flowing locks in the back.
