Don't sell it now, you've just fixed its biggest problem!

I think you mean:
Dont sell it.
I agree, don't sell it unless there are other things wrong with it. From his description, I thought my 2nd below reverse diagram was correct. He said "shift south and west" for 2nd. Granted, it could just be the angle of driver to stick that is causing that description. You know, since it would be weird to actually have a shifter designed like that (and since you have a picture of one that is more likely the pattern).

The only thing I can think of that is "wrong" with the car is that the trans/engine now appears much louder when I properly shift in 1st gear. Almost like a jet taking off.
You were able to launch in 3rd gear? Wow. I did a 3rd gear launch yesterday by complete accident and omfg I never was terrified in my life until then. My Prelude wouldn't go nowhere, had no power and just shook harder than me doing a 5->2 misshift.

Oh yes...maybe it's my clutch and the gear ratios.
I even launched my friend's '91 VW GLi in 3rd and the car didn't even shake.

Well, the good news is that you now know what you are doing. So, enjoy your louder car

The way my shift pattern appears to be, 1st is in a tiny little corner slightly on the left (has to be shoved in; feels like it's gonna fall out), along the Reverse Lockout. Then I shift south and west for 2nd, than north and east for 3rd, and way up north and east for 5th. My whole torso leans when I go up into 5th.
However, I apparently started out by shifting straight up, on a car that had its timing initially off, and I was accustomed to no power. Boy, was I wrong.
I've done the 3-2-3-4-5-6 before. When I had my Banshee and was starting to learn I started in 3rd once, with mum in the car, and got up to speed sssssllllllloooooowwwwwwlllllllyyyyyyy - mum encouraging the car to go on (don't ask), then I'd shit to second and have a sudden burst of acceleration and mum would say, "whatthehellareYOUdoing?"

Don't feel bad mate. Everyone has done stupid stuff when learning manual, etc. I've done it a lot and it only made me better at driving and got me to pay more attention to what I'm doing. When I first started driving my manual. I sucked really bad. Slowly got better. Did a lot of misshifting (lucky it didn't redline). I recently put a brand new clutch in my car. I bought it with a bad clutch and learned how to drive with a bad clutch, so when I put a Stage 1 clutch in. I couldn't drive it for nothing. Causing the tyres to spin each take off, tyres to jump and lose traction, etc. It still pulls hard and so far nothing bad yet.
