Dents & Dings. Do you care?

What to do to keep your car looking and running like new, inside and out.

You car has just been dinged/dented. How much do you care?

My life now has no meaning. Time to end it all.

You might be able to acquire a fender from a junkyard, and even paint it to match if it doesn't match already, for like $200.

Ok I checked car-part.com. Drivers side or passenger?

Passenger: $150 Plazek Auto Recyclers Can-ON(Caistor-Centre) Request_Quote 1-905-957-8111

If you just hand them the fender off the car, how much is a body shop gonna charge to paint it? $100?
Unless it was color matched I'd rather have the ding. That's just my opinion.

On this matter. It depends on the size of the ding. Parking lot dings and scratches I grieve over and i'll definitely try to put touch-up paint on it. However with dents, depending on the size I may try to replace the panel with a panel of the same color. So I couldn't answer the poll because it all depends on the situation.

If I don't like the ding I definitely am not going to like a different coloured body panel. I found another fender from an STi in Mississauga but it's World Rally Blue. Might pick it up and have a shop colour match it.

^Oh yeah, for sure a wrong-colored panel looks WAY worse than any ding or even a nasty dent...if it's not the right color already it will definitely need paint.

VW Golfs (Golves?) have golfball-like dimples on the undercarriage, while we're (kinda) on the subject.

On topic, going to pick up a new fender from a guy in Mississauga after work. Hope it doesn't cost me too much to have it repainted.

I must admit I got lucky once. I have this rear trim under the tail light of my 91. It rusted out and I bought a replacement for it. It was purple though. I then was searching online and found this guy parting out a blue one. I tell you, looks so much better than the rusted one without any of the work.

Color matching isn't always perfect. I know people who have gotten rear-ended and their back bumper is noticeably a different color. Up-close and far away.

A friend of mine has an Ion that rear-ended somebody (different owner) and the front fenders are two different colors, while the hood is yet another color. None of which match the rest of the car.

I have a tan door from a Blazer LS that I was going to put on my black LT, but the hinge is forked. I want to get that fixed before I do anything.

Right now I'm trying to figure out how I should go about getting rid of the tan door since I'm not going to use it anytime soon. I just don't want to lose the money I spent on it. I'm guessing I probably will lose the money anyway.

Well I guess I would try putting it on craigslist for something like $80 and see what happens.

Dad's truck, which has rust issues to be fixed in the same area anyway, has a scratch that's showing primer. Every time I walk by his truck I have to focus to not grind my teeth to dust. Yes, I care. My truck is in SERIOUS need of rust repair, but I can only work on one vehicle at once. Luckily even rockauto offers body panels for it. Great, since I don't have the tools to make all those shapes.

Any sort of body damage drives me crazy. I recently had a dent taken out on my GTI after someone let a shopping cart go full speed into my rear passenger-side door. I was furious when I saw it. While it was in the shop, I had the front bumper repainted and any other scratches touched up.

I hate dings and dents. I did have the hood repainted about two years ago when I replaced my seriously messed up hatch and I have done touchups when I could. My front bumper is in need of a complete strip and repaint. I have several dings and dents that you would expect in a 14 year old car. I just dont have the money to fix it. On the other hand, I have no rust issues. Even my undercarriage is nearly rust-free.
