hosting donations now available
Stepping up hosting plans to give the creaky old forum software a little room to breath, as well as giving Standardshift.com room to grow with new forum software and new features.
I don't like asking for money, and I don't like the more invasive forms of advertising that many forums seem to be using nowadays. I think the banner ads are enough, and they have been covering hosting costs up until this point.
With the hosting plan upgrade, costs will be going up, and I figured the most fair way would be to ask for a donation that goes directly to the hosting company. You know your money is going towards the site, and I won't have to think of ways to get bots to click on the ads, harhar.
Here's the donation page:

And thanks!

I'd gladly make a donation, I just don't know if my parents will let me. haha
anyway, what about site sponsors? Maybe like performance parts websites or something? On mustangforums (ugh, hate that place), they have lots of site sponsors, that get to advertise their products on there, they get their own thread/forum thingy, and most of them have discounts for forum members.
might not work as well since we don't have the largest community out there, or maybe you've already tried it, I dunno. Just another possibility.

Hey Standardshifter - I have dreamhost as a hosting service too - it sucks that you've had to increase the hosting plan - so far I haven't had to do that. At any rate, do you have a coupon code for new signups? You might also want to put that in your sig.
Let me know if you need any help with DH, phpbb or anything else - be glad to help out.
Also, what I've learned from asking for donations is that you have to give people an idea of how much they should donate... so if your hosting cost is 100 bucks a month, say "it only takes 5 of you to donate 20 bucks - thats it!" or something. People otherwise are cheap@ss's
I'll donate ya some here - just sold some stuff on ebay ...heh.
