Wait, I might have missed it, but, what is your budget?

On a side note, I might have not noticed when this had happened, but since when did a lot of you switch to driving automatics?? :(

since we got old. some of us have been in here for close to a decade (or more) and weren't too young when we joined the SS. what's wrong with automatics anyway?? :? :( :?:

Small car, that gets no love, but is pretty solid?

02 Escort ZX2?
03-07 Accord Coupe (4 cylinders had the chain, pretty peppy - at least I thought)
Saturn Astra, with a W in the first place on the VIN
I've looked loosely at a ZX2. However two things, the dash boards were so ugly on those cars and they must have taken some wrong advice from Mazda. They rust like crazy.

When I was looking at the Civic I looked at an Astra on eBay. They wanted a lot of money though.

That stopped either last generation or even two ago. Same with the Fusion not having a stick available anymore either.

Squint, you would be correct. It makes sense as both the Escape and Fusion share powertrains in our market.

So I keep getting told to get a more performance orientated car. I've been actually seriously thinking of it lately. Obviously it'd be a hot hatch, just don't know what to start looking for. I was thinking of a Focus SVT.

Thing that sucks is that I embarrassingly over paid for my current car. Now that gas prices are low seems that everything has gone up in value and everything with decent fuel economy has sank in value. Plus with the Takata conundrum, I have seen Hondas really fall in value...

Saab 9-3 hatch can be made VERY hot. Car and mods together could feasibly cost less than some other hot hatches all on their own. Bang for the buck is a great old Saab trait.

i have to confess, despite knowing tires matter a lot, i'm not sure i could go back to a 2WD car after this car, at least not as a daily driver in the northeast.

I've thought about it, I really liked the 900s.

I honestly don't drive enough in the snow to justify AWD. I also admit, the snowstorms I've driven in, the Civics have done a pretty good job in. I've thought about getting a 4WD truck for potentially plowing.
