In all the pics and vids that you have posted, the paint looks real nice, which is contrary to what you've mentioned before.

The cameras do it too much justice. It's half decent in places where the clearcoat isn't gone. The chrome however, is fantastic.

I see. So what have you decided to do about the paint? Did that miss that post somewhere?

It was only in the first post of the thread:

It also looks like I might be getting a new passenger side door, this one looks like it got a firm hit (not enough to declare an accident, but enough to screw things up), then very poorly bondoed and rattlecanned. Gonna hit up the semi-local pick-n-pull for that. Complete door: $47.99. :D Swap on the good shit (window stuff, door handle, trim, and hinges) paint it black, and bolt it back on. Also need some interior pieces, like the interior door handle trim for the front doors and the rear driver side, as well as an interior handle for the driver door, that one's all floppy and worn out (twss). And maybe if I'm lucky I can find a good condition foglight, driver side one's busted. This thing's in marvelous condition considering I only paid $700 for it.

So, not much lately. Got the car towed down to Klaus so he can get it started. Just bought $200 worth of parts, including two new washer pump grommets (one for each pump, one for headlights, one for windshield), a window regulator track bushing, and a new accelerator pedal. That was about $10 worth of parts. The other $187 was a heater valve for the convertible.

So dad got a call from Klaus today who said he got it started. The fuel accumulator was to blame, so he replaced that to the tune of about $100. He said there was no problem with the spark, so I think it's time for a new cap and gasket. I should have the car back by next week. Meanwhile, I'm going to the Newark Pick-N-Pull to yank some replacement parts. :D

You forgot to get a clutch pedal and manual transmission.

So, $4,920 poorer, and smog certificate later, it runs! Drives magnificently, transmission has a little issue with downshifting, so to climb a hill I have to put my manual transmission knowledge to use. I think the kickdown linkage is loose. Motor has a little issue with starting, stumbles like it's carbureted. Seafoam helped it a little bit, so I went and dropped another $200 for six new injectors and injector seals etc, as well as a couple of engine dressup pieces (ignition lead loom, cap cover, etc). Some time I'll get to painting those doors and fender, and then I can put a new clearcoat on the rest of the car. Got a new seat stripped to the bare springs ready to replace my sprung one. As well as a new door handle to replace the worn out floppy one on the driver door. It's getting there. :D

Straight-6 pawur!

Fuel Injectors I yanked out, easily the original ones. The seals sealing properties were almost nothing.

Blurry photo of what I put in:

Six new injectors solved the stumbling problem. Also turned out the CEL. I'd say money well spent!

Also decided that if I can't hear the motor at highway speed, why listen to road noise? So I picked up one of these for 25% off at Amazon.
And no, It's not going to be wired to the stock speakers forever. Eventually (christmas maybe?) I'll get some Pioneer speakers and a subwoofer+amp.

Long time no update. Went out to the pick-n-pull again a couple of weeks ago and dad eventually managed to get a very expensive $300 fan bearing off of our "donor car" (paid $22.50 ) while I walked around collecting other parts. Got a better condition steering wheel to go on while the old one is being recovered, and some more misc trim pieces. Got a nice low-mileage alternator off of our donor car for $20 to go on when we put on the new fan bearing, because it is WAY down there on the bottom left side of the motor, and the most convenient time to replace it would be while the whole accessory drive system is dismantled. Got a brand new fan clutch for $126 from Autohaus, because dad thinks ours is worn out and the one from the junkyard was leaking oil. And finally, received and installed my keyless entry system. I love keyless entry, especially in the rain.

Stuff to do:
Replace fan bearing and fan clutch
Replace center exhaust seal
Replace transmission shifter cable
Replace transmission fluid filter and flush transmission
Take off the old tires, repaint the rims, and put brand new Goodyears on them
Paint new body panels and put them on
Sand off and spray on new clearcoat
(Probably) Replace brake rotors if they turn out to be warped (little bit of a shudder in the steering wheel when lightly braking)
Have junkyard rocker cover powdercoated black and replace gasket
Get front seats and steering wheel recovered (ow...my wallet)
Go to town on the dirty as f*ck carpeting with a rug doctor.

Should be done by May-ish if all goes well. (Going to need some nice CA spring weather to re-clear the entire car)

New O2 sensor to replace the damaged one (rattling fron inside=f*cked). Check engine light is out and car is running better than ever!
Oh, and just for kicks...
