Veyron Operating Expenses
So you’re thinking about getting a Bugatti Veyron? That’s terrific, but this story may change your mind. Autoblog reports that maintenance costs for the million-dollar supercar rival that of a private jet! Take the tires for instance. The company recommends you swap out the specially made Michelins every 4,000 kilometers or 2,500 miles at a cost of about $30,000! Every 10,000 miles Bugatti recommends a tire AND wheel change which will set you back about $50,000! Some estimates put annual operating expense at $300,000! Yikes! It’s expensive to be rich.

There's a price to pay for being the fastest kid in the block.
How much owning and driving a "normal" supercar costs?

If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford to pay what it costs.Tups wrote:There's a price to pay for being the fastest kid in the block.

Re: Veyron Operating Expenses
I was just thinking about this yesterday. On another forum I mentioned that I prefer cars I could possibly own over cars I'll never get a chance to drive. Then I considered the idea of getting a really old, beat-up supercar...but the parts and maintenance costs would destroy that idea.

and even as we post these comments, there is some homeless guy using the comfuser in the pubic library to read our posts, and he's saying "I can't even imagine having enough money to purchase even a POS car, let alone license it, insure it, maintain it and buy gas for it."paul34 wrote:It is ridiculous, until you remember the car this car is sold as being capable of. At that point, one needs the reliability of an aircraft, especially something a bit higher end than a small single prop plane. You definitely don't want even a tiny wheel wobble at 230 MPH.
Expensive? Indeed. But I'm sure maintaining an F22 or Eurofighter would be incredibly expensive as well.
Even if I was Bill Gates rich, I still couldn't imagine buying one of these to own it. It just seems silly. Well, I can see the appeal, but... I don't know if I could ever look at myself in the mirror knowing how much money I'd be pissing away for one of my "weekend" cars. I mean, we're talking an amount of money most people take 15-30 years to pay.

I'm part of the establishment, man. You know how they always talk about the man that's holding them down? I'm the man.94Corolla5Speed wrote:You have a job? You decadent pig!
I did a google image search for the man who's holding us down. This was one of the first results:

From what I can tell, the Veyron isn't all it's cracked up to be. It accelerates like none other, but you have to jam on the brakes to make that pig slow down enough to corner. It sucks at cornering, loves to understeer. All you'll do is rape at the drag strip. I personally don't see it as a supercar anymore. It's just a streetable dragster. If you want a supercar, well...

I wouldn't say that 599 qualifies as a supercar. It's just a high-performance grand tourer. Supercars are supposed to look like this or this.

Re: Veyron Operating Expenses
Here is the million dollar question: what qualifies as a supercar? It has to be fast, right? It has to be expensive, right? Well...yeah, because it's appointed really nicely or if not it's a pure-bred race that that is made by hand. Something like that, right? What if it's a semi-regular car - like the Super Cuda RP posted - and it's been fully customized as shown in the video. Does that make it a super car? Most would not think so but who not, just because it's not Italian and doesn't have a roof 3.5 feet off the ground?

Uwe R owl wrong. It's knot a supercar unless it has that crazy S-thing on it's chest/grill.
