Had a cold spell here in Dallas over the last few days. Got down to 16. I drove up to southern Oklahoma for a day hike yesterday; it was fantastic. Spent a few hours hiking the woods tramping through about an inch and a half of fresh snow.

Back to 70* by Tuesday. Crazy weather.

We're about to have something similar. We have had multiple days of highs in the 20s with 1.5 inches of snow, with lows below zero for much of the state one night, single digits the rest. Today is in the 30s, this week we're supposed to get to the 60s, and this coming weekend, we could potentially have freezing rain and sleet with highs in the 30s again. I'm pretty sure one of the meteorologists I follow said we could go from 60+ to freezing with sleet in less than 12 hours. Yay weather!

Just got home from work ~19miles away. Took 3 hours accidents galore.

What the truck. It isn't exactly like snow is foreign to Minnesotans.

One of my neighbors is decent guy, although a total hermit. In the 5 years I've lived here, I have never seen anyone visit him. Not once, not one person. He works, I suppose but I think he works from home most of the time, although I'm not sure what he does.

But, it doesn't matter if it's early morning or day or evening, he's watching movies and I can hear the explosions and special effects mostly via the bass that comes through the little wall we share. Can't hear it unless I'm in my little alcove, but it just so happens that I've got my laptop set up there with the monitor and keyboard and every evening I try to work from home, all I can hear is a bunch of movie special effects bass.

I listened to Star Wars Episode II prolly 3 or 4 times while it played as I drove my family or Boy Scouts (for their monthly campouts) in our minivan, until I took the time to bring the DVD into the house and watch it myself. Listening to a movie is very different than listening while you're watching.

On the topic of snowblowers.... I ripped the pull start cord on mine the other day and I really need to remember to fix it. Fortunately I also have the electric start option, but I hate running extension cords all over the place.

Mine was a little hard to start last weekend when it was 7F out. Might need to clean the cobbarayta and clean/replace the spark plug. Last year it started on the first easy pull every time on the coldest days. I forgot to summerize it for storage and there may be some varnish in the cobbarayta.

The otter ear, eye yoused the center wire from a bred-bag twist-tie to clean out the jet in the carb and now it starts on first pull and no more chugging or spitting under no-load conditions.
