At the Academy, they teach the cadets to hit 'em hard.
It is the silliest thing in the world to see a huge SUV or pickup slow down and daintly cross a speed bump. Makes you want to get a locomotive horn about 2 inches behind their head and blast it. Wake them up or something. What are they worried about? Might actually use the shock absorbers or something? Wouldn't want to wear out the suspension now on this $50,000 behemoth that they can't even park in a normal parking spot. I don't know what people are thinking when they buy vehicles--much less what they are thinking when they attempt to drive them.theholycow wrote:People are so scared of even the smallest bumps.

I haven't been there much but it's always a zoo.DrJerryrigger wrote:Seems like 50%+ people did it at the whole foods/ Petco plaza on north main st in Providence, at least when I lived there a decade ago.
Yeah, that is generally true in RI and the portions of CT and MA that I drive daily.DrJerryrigger wrote:Really people were driving normal parking lot speed, then full on floored it just before the bump.
Seems like a lot of people in that state drive: flooring it, holding speed, or slaming on the brakes. Nothing in between even when it's snowing. I think that's the time in my life I grew a phobia of not being the driver when ever traveling.
No, they should be. Most of RI is stoned. I can't believe RI wasn't the first to legalize. I think everybody's too stoned to do anything about it.DrJerryrigger wrote:Maybe my stoned friends were not the best representative of RI driving.

Yet another reason why lifted trucks are dumb (unless you actually offroad with it - I can almost guarantee most lifted trucks around here barely see dirt, much less dried creek beds or anything more difficult). The trucks that see dirt are the farm trucks with random dents and grass sticking out places that are in the 5+ year old range. Those trucks are used properly.AHTOXA wrote:Well, cow, don't know about huge SUV's you've seen, but offroad rigs don't do well with bumps at high speed. Many people thing that lifted trucks with 33s and 35s should just blast through bumps, but it's actually quite painful for the driver. Offroad suspension is durable and rugged but by no means smooth.
