Favorite shift sequence
Very quiet around here, so I'll ask a pointless question just to fill the silence ...
What is your favorite shift sequence?
Mine is:
3 -> 4
Followed by:
5 -> 3
4 -> 2
I don't really know why, but I like how those shifts feel.

Re: Favorite shift sequence
Definitely 5 -> 1 at around 110-120 km/h.
But seriously I've always loved a 1 -> 2 shift at WOT.

Two pedals, two feet, too easy.

Same here, love flooring it in second and letting it coast down in third or fourth.AHTOXA wrote:Um, probably 2-3.
My least favorite is the 1>2...I am able to do it, but its just annoying to do smooth.

I like my DCHT 5-4 downshift, it's the easiest to make smooth because of the gearing ratios.

3->4 in the VW. Not even a whole "flick" and it quickly "thunks" as the shifter hits home.
2->3 and 5->4 in the Buick. 2->3 feels nice with the gates and centering spring and such. 5->4 is fast. 4->3 is almost as fast. Anything->2 is a nice opportunity to DC.

I like them all pretty much the same. But if I had to choose one, I'd say 3 > 2. I love the sound of my car when I downshift to slow down on my road before making the turn into my driveway every day....so I guess that's my favorite.

I love the 4>2 or even the 5>2 downshift. It's great going from cruising to instant power.

those are good too, except when I botch the rev-matching on the downshiftsMine is:

my most common downshifts are probably 5->4, 4->3 and 4->2
still working on the right amount of gas to add and being confident enough to let the clutch out quickly, but getting better now that i've had the car for a few weeks

I love the feeling of a perfectly rev-matched 4->3 downshift into a wide left turn with hard acceleration on the way out.

Re: Favorite shift sequence
You are correct, I did get rid of it...I was just remembering. Haven't had it for over a year now.

Does a perfectly revmatched 5>4>3>2 DCHT count?
