Leedeth's looking for car/truck to buy thread
I'm just going to create a thread and keep everything in here instead of creating a new thread every time I think there's a good car.
Need tips on the cars I post up, such as general reliability, cost of parts, etc.

1989 Chevrolet pick up long box - $1600
Well as you can see this truck it's a long box chev 4x4 runs strong i had it here last week but just reduced from 1800 to 1600 for more info call plz and thank you.

91 Volvo 740 Turbo STANDARD - $850
REDUCED!!850$ FIRM If this does not sell this week I am taking to auction. Nice looking car with leather interior. Price reflects fact that car needs some minor work done ie reverse lights aren't working, needs rear brake reline, and one new tire etc. All small little tweaks, this is a 5000$ car in the blue book so even if a few hundred need putting into it 850$ is a steal. Car is in working condition and drivable. Has recently been in for 40 point safety inspection and have that paperwork that you are welcome to check out. Approx 268 000 km. Blue book price is $5020. So this is a great deal with a minimal investment. This is the last reduction before we take it to auction.

The thing is massive, litterally having mass. A lot of it. As in its nowhere near as fast as you think. All the safety features make it a boat.

It's not TOO heavy. Also, what safety features? There aren't any.watkins wrote:The thing is massive, litterally having mass. A lot of it. As in its nowhere near as fast as you think. All the safety features make it a boat.

Fvcking woot, my dad at least agreed to look at the Volvo.
He suspects there's a lean on it, stolen, some sketchy stuff. Of course I'm a bit skeptical as well, but if it's clean then why not go for it.
Dumbass didn't leave a phone number so I have to email.

Its a Volvo. Volvo = safe. Just like Saab = safe. Its a Swedish thing.
Either way, my friend has one and its a boat. Though it is also a slush, which makes it heavier like whoa.

Ok sweet. I'm so hyped for this. A cheap, reliable, powerful Volvo with (OMFG BBQ) rear wheel drive!
Sh1t who could ask for more. All it needs is some repairs and some lightening and it'll be awesome.
I sent another email for confirmation that it's a manual tranny, and if it is, w00t.

Dude, I would jump on this, asap.
Edit: Don't forget to have everything inspected by a mechanic before you buy. Don't skip this step.
Congrats on the new car (soon)!

them volvos run forever. my step grandpa got a volvo wagon, its real old, its a slush and its a turbo, my cousin and i took it to the store when i was down in NC, and that thing moves. seriously moves. its a high 15s car, moved almost as quick as my probe. impressive for a late 80s station wagon

Re: Leedeth's looking for car/truck to buy thread
Is it really that bad? I mean, at least it's based on an SUV, the XJ Cherokee.
For the rear suspension, the truck uses leaf springs that are considerably longer than on Cherokees, which give Comanches good load-carrying capacity. There is also a heavy duty "Big Ton" package available (known as the "Metric Ton" package outside the U.S.) for long-bed models. The package included heavier-duty leaf springs and wheels, larger tires and an upgraded rear axle to a dana 44 instead of a dana 35 or mopar 8.25, which increases stock payload capacity from 1,400 pounds (640 kg) to 2,205 pounds (1,000 kg), well above that of any other pickup of the Comanche's size. In fact, a Metric Ton Comanche's payload rating is higher than that of many larger pickups.
Is that a decent payload capacity or not?

Re: Leedeth's looking for car/truck to buy thread
1 ton is a great payload for a truck the size of a comance. a lot of the regular pickups are half ton.
whats wrong with it. it runs and its 300 dollars. it either dont drive, or is rusted all over the place. or both

Is this a typo? The guy is now asking $200 for the Bimmer...

Found a Celica that dropped its price from $800 to $650, might check it out. RWD ftw.
I think it's a second gen Series B, which would make it an '80 or '81.
