I am by no means a drag expert, so don't know if any of this will make sense.
Are you using a hydraulic or cable operated clutch? If hydraulic, is there any type of fluid flow limiter that might slow the clutch down so it takes a little longer to get to full clamping force? Or if cable operated, some type of return damper? Something that's tunable so you can dial it in. This might help soften the bite off the launch, but I'm guessing could be pad for later shifts down-track.
Are there stickier tires that you could use in your current class?
Other than that, I'm guessing that's why so few drag guys are using full manual transmissions. What you're trying to do is pretty difficult. If you convert that thing to AWD, it would get you off the line harder

Thanks for your reply Gary, my linkage is all mechanical, but your on the right track. What a good drag clutch does is slip a little, takes the shock out of the initial hit and after gear changes. Mcleod makes one called Soft-lock, but its kind of a one size fits all, works for some people. I've heard adjusting one from scratch can be a daunting task. The clutch I just got, comes with a base set up. It's taylored to my cars weight, HP, TQ, launch RPM, and shift RPM. It should be tight but close, then I'll just try and sneek up on just enough slip.
Traction without the slip did this and a few other things more than once.

Call Mcleod and see what they recommend. What RPM are you leavng at? What have you broken so far? What tranny? You might also want to try RAM clutch.

So far the street twin broke 2 gear sets, bent the leaf springs, and bent the trac bars.
The trans is a G-force GF5R clutch assit, its a dog-ring/face plate type.

On a positive note, with the new clutch, http://www.advancedclutches.com/products.htm#Sportsman now leaving at 6K, 60's are now 1.45 to 1.50. A tenth+ improvement.
The vidio is an 1/8 mile track test last week. On the first pass I was out of the grove (to the left at launch) Shifting at 6900, clutchless shifts from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th, I'm still learning that part.

Yeah, Im pretty familiar with the G-Force GF5R. In fact, one of my buddies has a Lethal Weapon (old name for the GF5R). It was going in a 73 Camaro that never got completed. Im looking forward to running a G-Force T56. I have a 91 Camaro that Im build a turbocharged 408 LSx engine for. The T56 will go behind it...
Question about your cluch... How is the engagement? How does it behave on the street? I wanna cruise my car occasionally when its done. I dont want an on-off type of clutch.
Clutchless upshifting with the clutch-assisted GF5R... I was told that all you have to do is let off of the throttle SLIGHTLY and you should be able to shift it. All youre doing is taking a little load off of the face-teeth. Kinda like a motorcycle tranny. Im a clutch-type power-shifter myself. I PERSONALLY think that letting off of the throttle a bit might be a lil too harsh on the face-teeth. Again, this is just MY opinion. I would ask G-Force and see what they say.

Engagement on my clutch is very smooth, with little pedal effort. I would think that the Soft-Lock or Ram versions are also similar. For any hard or prolonged street use, you would want to add base pressure (take out some of the slip).
Actually the Street Twin was a great street clutch, it has smooth engagement too, just hits to hard when you dump it at line with slicks.
Clutchless upshifting on the street is easy, like you said just let off a lil (rpm gear matching) and it comes out and right in the next.
I just have a mental block when I'm going down the track. My right foot wants to stay planted on the floor. So what seems to be working, at shift rpm, I hit the two-step button on the shifter, the motor stumbles just enough to come out and into the next.
3rd member is a Strange nodular iron case with 9" gears.
