Shreaded Manual Tranny

Post by Terrence901 »

Ok heres the story I got a 2007 VW Jetta 2.5 Manual in Jan. I had no miles on it when I got it. I was ok with it the first 2 days until I found it had a seatbelt defect. Then they took my car for 4 days to fix it while me having a 07 Jetta automatic loaner. I got it back then days later realized my tire sensor light stayed on I took it back again. They said the stem on the tire was defective so they took the tire out my back and put it on my car until they get a new one. So I leave the lot and 5 min later took it right back because my check engine light was on and then started blinking meaning undrivable but I drove it anyway. They discovered that my car had a hole in the intake manifold. They replaced it under warranty after quality inspectors looked at it. Then I later discovered my air intake was broken and then I asked them to order one. So the next week later I was driving and shifted at redline to 2nd and 2nd didn't engage what I got was a loud phsstttttt clunkish sounds until all kinds of noises and noticed I had no more 2nd. I took it back and the dealer was like well no 2nd. They replaced the shreaded gear under warranty. Then 3 days later my check engine light was on again. They said that I had overrev codes in my car and then they reset the computer and also said my intake manifold is about to break again. So then 5 days later my 3rd gear goes pshtttt then I take it back again then after quality inspectors looked at it this time because it would be the 2nd time working on the tranny, they denied my warranty. They said I have to pay $2,300 dollars for a rebuild or $3,700 dollars for a new tranny and they will give my warranty back. This happened on March 2 or something and it is now almost May and I still have to pay my $400 car note. I want to know why did that happen considering this never happen in my Mustang GT 03 or my 2.4 Camry 03 or even a 95 pickup truck as long as I drove it.

Unless you are just absolutely abusive to your car, I'd say you just got a lemon of a VW. Or the dealer's mechanics are morons.

Sounds like a Friday car for sure...

Not only do I strongly suspect they don't have a leg to stand on regarding this, "Second time for the same issue, so you pay," business, but that would put the car well on its way to a lemon law filing, even if the car had not been out of service for 30 days (Which by itself I understand to be adequate justification for a lemon law filing in most states).

Read your warranty carefully and study up on your state's lemon law statutes. I suspect you will find your answer.

wow.

what is their reason for making you pay?! thats absolute BS. call vee dub america and file a complaint and see if people at headquarters can make them fix it.

wayyy too many problems on that car. sounds like you might have a lemon...i'd suggest you trade it for another one.

Oh to the other guy the VW headquarters told my dealer to deny warranty not the dealer because they say my driving habits in the ECU and the 50% tread left in front tires compared to the 100% in the back.

Point out all the other problems to them, then ask if it really makes sense that your driving really had anything to do with this. If you are an "abusive driver," then why didn't these transmission problems happen in your other cars with a manual tranny? I'm pretty sure there's been a pattern to all this and I doubt you started it. I'm thinking of a word that starts with the letter "L" and ends with "emon"

This is a bunch of BS. The worst part about this all is that, even if your car is declared a lemon, you will still lose money and be incredibly inconvenienced. That pisses me off, and it isn't even my problem. I'm sorry, man.

I would advise agaisnt aftermarket parts at this time just because of all the problems you're facing with the car; its another thing they can throw back at you. What i want to know is why you only have 50% tread left on the front tires? Even the shittiest of tires should wear down that fast.

What do you mean "barking"?

The only time my escort could do anything with the tries going into second was if I power shifted (Mashing accelerator while in the shifting process), it would chirp them.

Although some of this was outrageous; you were abusing the car. You can't blame the dealer for being at least a little suspicious, escecially with over rev codes in the ECU. As an added note there's a break-in period of so many miles you've got to follow (usually being easy on the car, no hard stops, acceleration, or high-revs if you can help it) to maintain your warranty.

I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just trying to be objective.

If you get a lemon, you have a lemon. I don't think any amount of aftermarket parts can change that.

I suppose you could try to be very gentle with the car, but you shouldn't have to do that. You should be able to drive it how you would drive any other car.
