Voltswagen - Road and Track

Volkswagen accidentally published an announcement on its press site Monday saying it would be changing the name of its U.S. operations to "Voltswagen of America" in an attempt to highlight its EV program, according to a report from CNBC that has since been confirmed by Road & Track. The incomplete press release, dated April 29, has since been taken down.

Though it sounds like an April Fools' joke gone awry, a senior employee at Volkswagen of America, who asked not to be named, confirmed to Road & Track that the name-change announcement was genuine, and had been erroneously published ahead of schedule. As noted by CNBC, the release—which was incomplete, and had notes indicating that further photographs and quotes were to be added before publication—explained how Voltswagen and VW badging would co-exist for at least a certain amount of time after the name change kicked in.

From CNBC:

The release called the change a “public declaration of the company’s future-forward investment in e-mobility.” It said Voltswagen will be placed as an exterior badge on all EV models with gas vehicles having the company’s well-known “VW” emblem only.
To “preserve elements of Volkswagen’s heritage,” the release said the company planned to retain the dark blue color of the VW logo for gas-powered vehicles, while using a light blue to differentiate “the new, EV-centric branding.”
The release said Voltswagen of America would remain an operating unit of Volkswagen Group of America and a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, with headquarters in Herndon, Virginia.
Initially, the Road & Track staff—and most news media—assumed this was a botched April Fools' Day prank, given that the leak occurred just a few days before April 1. After all, think of how cringey some automakers get this time of year. But now it's confirmed, and at some point soon, we can expect to see Voltswagens at our local Volkswagen dealers.

VW's April Fools joke about U.S. name change turns bad

“Volkswagen of America will not be changing its name to Voltswagen. The renaming was designed to be an announcement in the spirit of April Fool’s Day,” VW said in a statement after removing the release from its U.S. media site. “We will provide additional updates on this matter soon.”

It seems that their calendar was broken and they thought the date was April 1st.

TOYOTA TAKING HYDROGEN-POWERED ICE RACING - Autoline Daily
Image

But that’s not all that’s up Toyota’s hydrogen sleeve. It also developed a hydrogen-powered ICE engine that it’s going to take racing. It’s a turbocharged 3-cylinder unit that features a modified fuel and injection system to handle the compressed hydrogen. Like any new technology that’s first tried out in racing, Toyota hopes to accelerate its understanding of the setup by putting it through an extreme environment. A few of the benefits include a faster combustion rate compared to gasoline and, other than a small amount of emissions from oil burning off, the engine emits zero CO2 when in use. Toyota will use the engine in a race version of the Corolla Sport and its first race is a 24-hour event that kicks off on May 21st.

I have a question

Who takes a Chrysler Pacifica off roading in an orange grove at 11:30pm with kids in the car?

Pacifica’s are not for off road please keep all four wheels squarely on pavement.

Another:

And if you’re going to go to North Dakota, make sure your transmission and your engine are in good shape, and maybe up the miles on your membership just a bit, there’s nothing up there (sorry if you live there) and if you’ve got quadruplets, you’re gonna wanna make sure you can get to a reputable repair shop.

I guess I can’t use “stay home there’s a pandemic” any more if shits opening up

Hey Wannabe!

Did you get a chance to go out and smell the tulips this year?

I'm thinking the mask restrictions eased up right around when they would still be in bloom, but prolly too late for Holland to organize anything like their typical festival activities.

Yanno, if that van was Amish, it wouldn't have let you down.

We do not get a lot of stick shift cars these days.

We do have to ask if they’ll go in neutral and most people say no. They should be stick shift so they can! Even w/o keys or a transmission issue.
