took me a hot minute to figure out what you meant by that. the week between xmas and new years is supposed to be joyous and amazing; i'm stuck training a new auditor every night for the next 2 weeks, and the boss expects me to teach her everything (rather than her training on real shifts too).tankinbeans wrote:I'm excited that I can stop pretending that this time of year is wonderful.

i have no recent issues with my doors, just the sunroof when it's sub-zero.Teamwork wrote:It works pretty solid for 5-6 months- I only really get a squeak out of the front passenger door over time but I just stay consistent doing the stripping around every door. The stuff smells pretty good too...potownrob wrote:that's right. happy belated christmas. may the gummi pflege be with you.Teamwork wrote:Happy Holidays all! Taking liberties on the day after off by installing a new head unit and speakers into my dad's Matrix and re-applying gummi pflege in my GTI around the door seals (as they've been a bit noisy after months of quiet).
Again, never seen a community so dependent on something as we all seem to have it in our garages or glove boxes. A lot of the BMW and Mercedes communities seem to use it also- must be a German thing.

Hay, How 'Bout Them New Years?
My Jeep's deer impact repairs have been completed and I will get a ride down to A-Squared and pick it up on Monday!

Nice! As much as unexpected repairs suck, getting a vehicle back in better shape (hopefully) than it was previously is always a nice feeling.Rope-Pusher wrote:Hay, How 'Bout Them New Years?

Speaking of which...I gotta take some photos and update my car's thread. I had the week off and spent it disassembling the dash and steering column, cleaning up the rat's nest electrician's nightmare, upgrading stuff, etc. Scored a nice custom Buick steering wheel at the junkyard when I was there to get the turn signal/wiper switch I wanted, too.Squint wrote:getting a vehicle back in better shape (hopefully) than it was previously is always a nice feeling.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi
So, during the car fiasco, we were down to one vehicle across the entire property. My bike is in pieces, my restoration job hasn't been started in... I don't want to think about it... Dad's truck blew the differential a couple weeks back... So it was my car, my truck, and my mother's car... Then my car went down. I took her car to go order the tensioner for my car... then I get home and I'm informed that my truck is not road worthy. So today I pop the hood. Serpentine belt tensioner was questionable when I installed the A/C bypass pulley. Now it doesn't return on its own. Idler pulley spins twice and stops while all other pulleys freewheel if given a good spin, and my belt is missing a rib. Ain't life a bitch?

Your sig indicates a 1986 Ford LTD. Is that the project? I don't recall a post or a thread about it.

A thought just occurred to me.
Is "grin and bear it" an allusion to removing your drawers and prepping to get rammed?

Bear, not bare...
Without sating my curiosity fully by looking it up, it could be an allusion to dealing with any painful experience by gritting one's teeth, similar to "biting the bullet." Or it could just be a recommendation to deal with your troubles cheerfully.
