I have an in at Logan working for one of the technical services (maintenance of airport machinery) companies. Pretty good base pay and room for rapid growth within the company, to boot. I just have no interest in commuting to Chelsea for the shuttle or all the way to Boston every day.

It's not the gears we want changed, it's the knobs we want polished.

My GF's Dad is in Owensboro, so we mostly did the stretches from Evansville through Owensboro and out KY via I-64 (well, reverse that on the way in).

Anywhere near you?

You passed within about 10 miles of me if you took I-64 East/West across most of the state. I'm not as familiar with the drive on I-64 west of Louisville, but I'm very familiar with the stretch from Lexington east to West Virginia because I lived in the Charleston area for close to a year and am from Lex.

We stopped for lunch in Winchester at Guance's Deli & Cafe. On the "Beer Cheese Trail." Now I know there's a "Beer Cheese Trail." The deli was only OK... but probably could have been worse if I had tried the beer cheese trail. Or something.

I'll have to let you know the next time we speed through 8)

I still fondly remember the Flying Pig joint in a small town of Thomas, WV. Their burritos were damned good. I will come back there before too long.

If it is your thing, ignore the "Beer Cheese Trail" (TIL that exists) and go for the Bourbon Trail. Just saying. That stretch you drove has a bunch of distilleries not far off the path.

Uhm:
  • Basil Hayden
  • Russel Reserve
  • Blanton's
  • Revel Stoke (ok, that's a spiced blend)
All quite the tasty. 8-9

We ate a lot of damn good burritos in WV. There was that other place too that we had lunch or dinner or a snack in.
