Anyone have a heated attached garage? Is there a big spike in heating costs, assuming the insulation is done properly? I can't imagine it would be very hard to branch off a duct into the garage and blow some insulation into the walls.

I hear that the heated garage promotes rust. I would skip it I was told.

I'd rather be warm while struggling to work on slightly more rust than have frozen fingers working on cold but slightly less rusty parts.

Hmm, I've never heard that before. I'll have to look into that. Seems odd, considering people often store their collector cars in heated garages.

Me, I'm not concerned with heating the garage to 'comfortable' level, I just want to keep it from dropping below freezing.

EDIT: After some research, it appears that the 'causes rust' part is due to melting snow/salt mixture on driven cars parked in heated garages, which makes sense. I wouldn't be driving the car in snow/salt anyway so I don't think ti would be an issue.

oxidation increases with rising temperatures. Prolly not significant F N U only heated the garage when doing some wrenching.

i'm considering leasing a car since there are some nice (as far as i can tell) lease deals to be had. anyone have any thoughts on, and/or experience with leasing??

What happened to your Subaru? Didn't you just buy that fairly recently? If you have a running paid off car, leasing another is a huge waste of money.

it's not paid off - i have a loan with my sister for most of the cost of the car (still owe her ~3k). i also want something newer, more comfortable, and preferably bigger (i'm a big man). and yes, i am considering leaving miss manual for madame PRNDLSTICK

lol no, i will pay off the loan, either by selling/trading in the car and paying her off, or by continuing to make payments to her.

How did it happen? Gotta be really careful not to leave them around like that, especially when not everybody involved has the well trained step-off-nail reflex that comes from working in construction for years. Immediately after removing a nailed piece, one must bend or remove the nail. With practice you can do it very quickly by bending it with your hand, foot, or anything hard nearby so your work isn't interrupted too much.

It was a small piece of trim that had popped off the wall, bounced off my head, and landed across the room. I hadnt gotten that far in my cleanup yet, so when she misstepped, it ended up becoming a riveting situation. (Little fastener humor for ya)
