Took my car for an oil change today, will be walking out 1000 bucks poorer.

Ended up having the oil pan and rear pads and rotors change. I knew these may have been an issue but I have been hoping that I could keep delaying them into the future.

At least I don't owe 1000$ in taxes like last year.

Happy Friday the 13th!

Fear not. Only tasteful modifications are happening to it. I have a general vibe I want to go with on this car, and 60's British Roadster is the vibe I'm getting. Panasport type wheels perhaps, a nice rorty, vintage sounding exhaust, etc.

Haven't been on here in forever. I ended up dropping my online class because of work so I'll be done next semester. Still debating on what I'll actually be doing once I'm done. I should probably at least dip my toes in the water and try and get a part time job. Been on the fence and I think the problem is that I actually haven't had any real world experience aside from the stuff that comes into class. Got new tires and I may either mount and balance them at school or bring them somewhere today because I'm getting antsy.

I'm starting to think that instead of some cute Norwegian gal (and boy, we had plenty of them in Svalbard!) that Miss Sixty top belongs to the African woman who was washing laundry before me in the laundry room, and complained to me about people complaining about her booking 16 hours of laundry time this week. She said it's her right to do that as she pays for doing laundry, although she only pays for the actual usage, not the booking time.

So I complained to the Student Housing Association.

And decided to go back to Svalbard next year.

Tough ride today. Two hard falls, lots of thorn cuts and a flat that happened after the ride. Wtf. This time its the front tire.

Gave the Viggen its first good wash in a while, complete with proper dry. No time nor supplies to do anything more as I was at work. Im still thinking about having one of the detail guys there give the car a good clay and buff.

Road ride today for me. Exactly 1 hour. 14.07mi. 14mph average for 14 miles/1 hour is pretty good by my standards, I think even back when I rode a lot.

I'd like to thank the 5 or 6 drivers who were really patient with me on that one back-road with no shoulder. To the two who drove into the 7 foot wide shoulder on another road while passing me: You are so cool .

I cleaned the road bike the other day, even removing the water bottle cages to get under them and using toothbrush-like brushes to get in small places and flossing with rags and such. It's probably the only thing I've ever given a damn about cleaning.

It's too warm for long sleeves, even rolled up, so I couldn't wear my safety orange shirt. I tried on the safety neon yellow cycling jersey I bought oh-so-many years ago but may never have worn yet and it was way too small. WTF. I ended up just wearing white. I gotta get some safety-colored wicking fabric sufficiently large short-sleeve shirts, cheap. I should have worn my safety orange mesh vest on top of my shirt though.

I wanted to clean my car this weekend, but it's going to rain tomorrow so I didn't want to waste my time. I probably won't have time to clean it during the week, either :( . Having a black car is a pain in the ass. I don't think I'll buy one again. It looks nice when it's clean, but it shows every speck of dirt and swirl in the paint.

i think it depends on how shiny the finish is and maybe the shape of the car, and not just that it's black (cue racist joke); when i had my black maxima, it stayed decent looking for a while, not much worse than other colored cars i've had. of course, the paint wasn't very shiny (even when waxed).

as for the not washing my car cuz it's gonna rain routine, i don't buy it, since my cars usually don't get too clean from even a heavy rain (not nearly as clean as when i wash it), and i usually at least spray that wax stuff at the carwash on it when i wash it and my car stays clean if it gets rained on the next day. either way, it's gonna (hopefully?) rain again sooner or later.
