The only console problem I've ever had was with the CD attachment for my Sega Genesis. One day, it just stopped working.

My 360 is still fine, though it's not one of the launch models and I haven't owned it a year yet.

ok so my 360 is acting weird.

after it "fixed" itself, it played fine for quite a while. then i turned it off, came back later and turned it on, and got 3 red lights. i left it sitting for over an hour and went back and turned it on again. 3 red lights. so then i turned it off and switched it from horizontal to vertical, turned it back on, and it worked, and has been working ever since, even with long hours of gaming. :? weird.

now, when i got it back and took it out of the box i could hear something rattling around inside of it. since moving it made it immediately work, i'm thinking whatever's loose in there is what's causing the problem.

at this point though with it vertical i haven't had any more problems yet.

thing is, i already put in the repair order and they're sending me a box to send it back. i'm going to send it back b/c dead or not, it shouldn't be giving me these 3 red lights every once in a while. but what i worry about is that they'll get it, turn it on, it will work, and they'll just send it back to me. so then i'll be without it for like 4 more weeks just to get it back with nothing done to it. hopefully they'll just replace it with another one and hopefully the "new" one will work consistently. what a nightmare. :?

I got the infamous "Disk Read Error" on my PS2, shipped it to Sony, a week later it was back and ALL the internals had been replaced. :)

ok, i think it's Forza 2 doing this.

last night my fiancee played Oblivion for a few hours and then i played demos for an hour or so, no problems.

today she played Oblivion for almost 3 hours with no problems. then i put in Forza 2. after 2 races it froze and when i turned it back on, 3 red lights. so far it hasn't come back to life yet. this is absurd.

man, I got mine last chirstmas (of '06) and its run likle a dream. The only time it freezes is when its been on for several hours and it gets really hot.

I've avioded nearly every problem I've heard of because I just keep it out in the open with the fan on in the room, and it doesn't heat up until I've been playing for about 4 hours, in which case its time to turn it off anyway.

It has only been 6 months, so hopefully it will keep on ticking.

Proprietary equipment FTL. One thing nice about a PC is that parts are easy to come by (and inexpensive) when it breaks down.

That is, unless it's a laptop :)

Interesting thought, I have had a few glitches with my Xbox 360, most while playing Forza 2 as well (go figure).

What kind of deal do they give if you trade it on the Elite?

3 red lights. turn it off, whack the 360 a few times on the side, turn it back on and it works for a while. it sure is satisfying too.

Here's a crazy thought - maybe it has something to do with the DVD player rather than the "important" internal bits.

You should submit your "fix" to Microsoft. Maybe they'll issue a patch.

Not good enough. 150 towards the elite..i still have to pay 330+ tax + another warranty, the cost is going to be around 400.
Just not economical.
I'm pondering trading my xbox for a base model manufactured in 07.
