Forza 2
Forza 2
Has anyone else with an Xbox 360 downloaded and played the Forza Motorsports 2 demo? What are your impressions of the game? I'm having a great time with it and I'm definitely buying the full version once it's released.
The forums on Forzamotorsports.net ran a little hotlapping competition last weekend. For R class you must use the #35 MC12. First place came in at 49 seconds. My best laps so far have been in the 51 seconds.
Also, I tried the GT:HD demo at a kiosk in Fry's a few weeks ago, and I wasn't that impressed. For some reason it was still set up to use the X button as throttle and square as brake. You'd think that with the new triggers on the PS3 controller the brake and throttle would be mapped to those triggers.

Bah...I downloaded it, still have it, and it's garbage. I was really looking forward to that game, but holy crap do the physics SUCK. First off..NO engine braking, and on top of that, cars do NOT spin out when your take like curve doing only 30 or 45.
The physics in that game suck, I don't care WHO or HOW many people say that it's the most realistic, because it's total BS. They have alot of fancy features and all that, but it doesn't make it realistic at all.
I'll stick with PGR3 for now, and move onto PGR4, that's where the real racing is at.

I've got gears of war, and that is a badass game.
I love PGR3, and when PGR4 comes out, I'm buying it. I'm buying halo 3 as well.
NFS Carbon is crap though. Once you finish the game, its over, you can't win any more money to buy more cars, and its just ridiculously frustrating that you can't ever get enough money to buy more than 3 or 4 cars the entire time.
I can't get on to xbox live with my current setup, and I'm too cheap to pay for the microsoft adapter.

Oh HELL YEA- did you hear how the race prepped Corvette sounded w/ the manual transmission when you down shift real fast for a turn? SEXXXY.
and i JUST got an HDTV for myself as a little graduating present, and it looks spectacular.
So does the Halo 3 beta- i'm having alot of fun with that.
Just read, your comparing PGR3 to a sim? ROFLMAO- You get Kudos for goodness sake, KUDOS!
The physics on the Forza demos have always sucked, the actual version of the game handles MUCh diffrent, it's been the same with Forza 1, the demo had difficuly physics, hard to steer, etc. but the actual game was diffrent.
besides, i don't think a race car will make loud noises taking a slight corner at 40 mph.

Six, I love the Burnout series! Regarding the sounds, you're absolutely right, the devs really bumped it up from the first game. I haven't spent much time trying to crash, but when you brought it up I had to try it out. And, wow, I instinctively winced at the sound. A head on collision gave me a real KRPOW instead of the usual dull crunch or bang that I've become used to from my other games. Did you also notice the somewhat subtle "kachik" sound from shifts?
Nervous, do you have Forza 1? If so, how does that compare to Forza 2? And by "cars do NOT spin out when your take like curve doing only 30 or 45" do you mean that you keep spinning out? Have you tried using the assists? If you're sliding off corners it could be that you're locking your wheels. If you're having a problem with getting on the throttle too aggressively coming out of a corner you could try using the Gallardo, 911 Turbo, or the Legacy B4 (all AWD).
Also, I just checked for engine braking. It's there, but I suppose it's not that pronounced. My car slowed down more quickly from downshifting than in staying in a higher gear. And forcing a downshift to 1st at speed caused my wheels to skid while bouncing off the revlimiter. Sorry about all the questions, but there was a time when I also thought Forza was not as good as GT4 due to the physics. Like you, I felt that I shouldn't be spinning out or sliding off corners. But now my opinion is completely reversed.

Ecmslee, have you tried Test Drive Unlimited? If you (or anyone else here) likes the car "lifestyle" that is the best game out there. Try the demo. I've been playing it for the last few months.
For those that do not know what Test Drive Unlimited is about, it is like a car-based wet dream. You live in the island of Oahu in Hawaii, get to buy a whole bunch of luxo-houses, drive around in exotic cars (that you get to buy, at a dealer, even get to test drive them too!), have cool little missions and races, etc. They have full interiors of the cars, have a REAL cockpit view (even better than PGR3), and bikes! You get a helmet view for bikes (face shield tint, scratches, and dirt included). Over 1000 miles of recreated roads from the real Oahu.
It's too much to explain, you got to try it. And, sorry for the thread jack, talking about racing games just reminded me of it.

Six, I was a beta tester for the PS2 version. I could see the potential in the game but frankly I felt that the PS2 was too underpowered for that game and the physics weren't really there. Not to mention the game was still very buggy even for a beta. So it shouldn't be surprising that beta testing the PS2 version really turned me off to the game.
On the other hand, I've downloaded the 360 demo and messed around in it a bit. I can say this is much better than the PS2 version. I don't think I'll pick up the full game in the near future, but I'll keep an eye on it. Right now I have too many things that are keeping me busy.

i was actually laughing while reading this post on a game site.
*fck man! i actually have to let off the GAS when im turning and what is this BRAKING business anyway...god. in Burnout i never had to touch the brakes! this car is definitely broken or something, i turn and the tires skid and i start sliding towards the wall!*
i can only imagine what this kid was thinking while he played the demo...Previewed By: A Customer Date: 5/25/2007 10:30:52 AM
Guess what? Another lame "Sim" racer that misses the fun and instead becomes a games that most gamers won't want to play. It all comes down to fun, and you can't have any fun racing if you or your fellow players can't keep the car on the track. If you like fighting with the controler, this is the game for you! These type of games are completly outdated. Give me something I can have fun playing. With todays phsyics, there is no such thing as a "sim" or "arcade" racer. Just good or bad based on what you find fun. To me, this game aint' fun. Thnx for the Demo on XBL, you saved me cash.

Sucks when you're a 12 year old kid and don't know how to drive, isn't it?subzero wrote:i was actually laughing while reading this post on a game site.
