1994 Chevrolet C1500 with a 4.3 L V-6 and a 4-speed automatic.

I would have preferred another vehicle, but my 1991 Grand Prix had other plans.

By the way, what is the gas mileage on Geo Prizm? We are thinking what to buy for my cousin who just got his DL but still doesn't have a car. Oh, he lives in SF 8) Is Geo Prizm ok for a beginner? In my opinion, it is good in this situation because:
  • It's not powerful, so my cousin wouldn't want to play chicken on the road
  • It's not stylish, so he wouldn't want to show off
  • It's small which is critical for parallel parking in SF
  • It should run forever on one tank of gas
What do you think?

I think it's a great car to start out, assuming it's a manual. If you get one with an automatic transmission, I hear (and assume) it lacks so much power, it's unbelievable (it's a 1.6l 105hp, c'mon  ). I don't know how important that is to you or your cousin, but acceleration already isn't great with a manual (I assume you've figured this). All around, though, it's a great car, and a great manual to start out on. Learning to drive a stick on this car is much easier, I assume, than learning on some 300hp beast. Fuel economy should be good, too. If driven economically (ha, right  ), it should get around 30 mpg on average.

Anyway, all in all a great car to start out on (and fun to "brag" about  ). I'll post anything more I think of.
