Oh wow, here I have been severely butchering the pronunciation of your username for the last 8 months!AHTOXA wrote:Mine is my Russian nickname and a derivative of my name (Russian equivalent thereof), spelled in Cyrillic letters, which in upper case are identical (as written) to English but are pronounced differently. Me too. I always left the X and pronounced it "a-thocks-uh" and always thought it strange, but never decided to ask.ClutchDisc wrote:Oh wow, here I have been severely butchering the pronunciation of your username for the last 8 months!AHTOXA wrote:Mine is my Russian nickname and a derivative of my name (Russian equivalent thereof), spelled in Cyrillic letters, which in upper case are identical (as written) to English but are pronounced differently. Re: How'd you choose your username....?
despite tone-bone having explained it in the past (both at ss meats and on here), i still say it in my head as "atocha" (as in the neighborhood in madrid, spain) and get all nostalgic whenever i see it.tankinbeans wrote:Me too. I think of it with a clearing my throat sound to the H, "achh-tocks-uh". Think of Spaceballs, the scene where Yogurt examines Lone Star's medallion.tankinbeans wrote:Me too. Hahaha. I probably need to clarify phonetic pronounciation. I may not have been clear earlier. It sounds like un-TOH-hah.
It is an internet name I use and most all forums. Those that know, get it.
That said, I have not used my birth name in, um, way over a decade. I go by Anthony or Tony. That's what's on all my papers - Anthony.

Standardshift was actually the first forum I ever joined. At the time, I was definitely a noob, and the 5,000,000 just sounded funny to me. I don't know how exactly I settled on 5,000,000.

That explains the uncannily similar taste in automobiles.

Lets see if anyone can put this together and explain it...
My username comes from the fact that I used to coach basketball. I'm white; most of my players were black. That should be all the hint someone here needs.
