Time for some good, healthy debate....please, keep it clean.
What is your definition of Truth?
What is your definition of Truth?

Re: What is....
In the day-to-day colloquial sense: truth == 'valid'; something confirmed and verifiable.
Philosophically: Its colloquial definition still applies, but I'll elaborate and state that truth is relative, not absolute. It is also subjective. Everything is true to some degree. In many cases that degree is 0%, in some cases it is 100%, but most cases the value lies between those two extremes.

Re: What is....
There is no set definition of truth, because as Mr. RIT said, it is subjective and can vary with context and circumstance. Truth is a perception as well, which can vary between individuals.

Both are right. I understand that your perception of color may be different from mine and I'm cool with that because ultimately it doesn't matter.wannabe wrote:lets say i think the table is purple, thats my perception. but then you come along and say no, its fuschia. who is right?

Now if only religion was like that, eh?

I'd know at that point that you are obviously an old-fashioned girly girl, as evidenced by your extensive knowledge of color names, and I'd ask you to make me a sammich without worrying that you'd feel offended.wannabe wrote:lets say i think the table is purple, thats my perception. but then you come along and say no, its fuschia. who is right?

Are you cheating at bible study? Coming in here and asking all our answers so you can give them to the group and pass them off as your own? I'm so telling on you!wannabe wrote:(this was the topic of my bible study last night, what is truth)
