Snow on clutch shoe, slips on pedal, what to do????

Post by ClutchFork »

This really bugs me. You walk through snow, then get in and your foot is slipping around on the clutch pedal. I hate that. What do you guys do, carry a small stiff brush to clean off your shoe? Stomping my foot does not seem to help, especially if there is nowhere to stomp but in snow.

I sometimes whack or scrape my foot against the step that's under the door. Mostly I don't have that problem but sometimes I do. If I had it often I'd consider getting those silly ricey pedal covers that should cut right through packed foot snow. Something like this, maybe slightly more aggressive:

Eye dew this:

Clapping the feet together to shake off the snow is mandatory,
Shouting "Urk, Urk!" soptional.

This also helps prevent moisture build-up in the vehicle, which can cause window fogging or frosting and
bloody stools.

When I lived up north I just dealt with it for the most part. One time I had an old beater Acura and the clutch pedal was bare metal. Worked fine in the dry but when it was wet it was like ice. So I got some skateboard tape (sandpaper-like surface) and stuck that on there. Didn't have that issue after that.

Some good ideas here. I have until next December to implement something.

Keep the ideas coming.

I also hear that doing the skateboard tape works well. Or just general sandpaper, but the skateboard tape already has an adhesive back.

My pedal still has the rubber grip, I don't have too much of an issue with mine.

I kind of scrape my shoes on the pedal itself, well the upper portion, and periodically shake out the all weather floor mats.

Nobody's licking the snow off their clutch pedal until after a number of margaritas.

I suppose one could rig up a small space heater of high output to dry off the shoe.
