What's wrong with my odometer

Synchros shot? Weird noises while shifting? Not sure what needs to be replaced?

What's wrong with my odometer

Post by 1974Alfa5spd »

I have one of the really old 5-digit odometers and today it just turned over 80,000, and 90,000, and finally over again, repeating that 22 times in my 22 mile drive. So what the hell has happened to my odometer?

Bad case of Sarah Palin disease - it cuts out earlier than expected and nobody is really sure why or really cares why.

Five digit odometers will reach a certain point, and then just sit and roll over for all eternity. Some roll back to nada, but I'm guessing something is up with this one.

You drove through the time space continuum. Simple as that. Have Stephen Hawking take a look at it. He'll have it fixed in no time.
Two pedals, two feet, too easy.

I guess now would be an okay time for an update. I replaced the whole speedometer unit and It's turned over from 67k to 68k and 69k no problem. Okay, so my car has 12k less miles than it used to, but who the f**k really cares on a car this old?

Yea but his vehicle is exempt because it's more than 10 years old.

...and nobody expects an Italian car to have any particular items (including odometer) working anyway.
