How is your smileage?
Any thoughts on the shifting?

I love your snail sticker.

Of the FCA twins I find the Renegade the more appealing of the two.

I do majority highway driving, and my overall average is 31-32 mpg over the past 24,000 miles (since I purchased the Jeep in August '15).

The manual shifter on this vehicle is quite nice and is generally praised by the owners that I've had contact with on the Renegade forums. It's not truck-like, throws are relatively short with good feedback. I can actually row through all six gears without moving my elbow from the center armrest. The gear spacing is pretty good, I wish 1st wasn't quite so low, it's good for getting moving but when accelerating from a light I usually find myself shifting to 2nd before I'm even all the way through the intersection. 2-5 are nicely spaced, and 6th is a bit higher than on other 6-speeds I've driven, high enough that at 75 mph on the highway it's only running 2600 rpm.

Overall I love this vehicle. It's not as heavy as you would think, about 3100 lbs. It handles very nicely, with the short wheelbase and the factory Koni adjustable-damper struts. I wanted one as soon as I saw them and it was confirmed they would be available in manual.

Well at least the owners like them. I guess thats what counts.

I cant stand them and Ive barely had to touch them yet. Any thoughts from Engineeringland, Twine-Shover?

Whale, they really don't have a short shift throw, it's actually longer than average, but they do have a hard stop built into the shifter just after you get in gear. The cables have a lot of compliance built into them, but with that hard stop they have a relatively short overtravel.
At some point in time that I can't recall, the transmission shift system friction was reduced and the suck-in feel is really strong now.
