Yesterday my Megasquirt II kit came in the mail, so of course I had to set right into it.
Eviscerating the package produced this.
With this lovely little sticker on it.
How it started out at about 3:00 yesterday.
How it appeared at about 12:20 today.
And the finished product.
Some of the leads on the diodes are so thick you could probably arc weld with them.
And then FedEx was so polite as to let me know my fuel rail was on my door step. Next step, lop the left and right mounts off.

Re: Projekt Mordecai/MRDRMBL/Das Großer Benz
So yesterday, the fuel rail looked like this:
And even though that works for how it mounts to it's twin-cam sibling, it wasn't going to work on this single-cam geezer. So I broke out the hacksaw, which decided it didn't want to live on this planet anymore, and committed suicide.
Using the end of it that never gets used (and is thus still sharp), I managed to hack and eventually bend and break off the rear tab.
And a little work on the bench grinder cleaned it up.
Before I began on the front I decided to open up the FPR to make sure there wasn't a bunch of varnished gas in it (and to hopefully identify the inlet and return). Popped out the snap ring (seen below), got a small screwdriver under the tab and pried it out. Pretty good, gas smelled reasonably fresh.
Then I got to work on the front tab, and I knew the hacksaw wasn't going to cut it this time (rimshot). Then I remembered we have a Sawzall.
Which produced a significantly cleaner cut than a worn-out hacksaw.
And there it is, all modded up and ready to fit to the intake.

Re: Projekt Mordecai/MRDRMBL/Das Großer Benz
Amidst the pouring rain, when I got home from my English class, I crossed paths with the postman, who had a surprise for me, as well as an armload of junk mail.
Injectors! Used, cleaned, and flow-tested courtesy of Midwest Mustang on eBay for $55 shipped. Alas, these will never inhabit a FoMoCo product again...
They are quite small, but I still have to shave down the sides so they'll slip into the perfectly cylindrical sleeves the K-Jet injectors fit into.
Even though the o-rings were not replaced, they still fit good and tight into the fuel rail.
The last things I need to get now is an intake that I can play with/mangle and the connectors for the injectors. Then I need to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing about the fast idle valve. I pretty much have everything else sorted out except for that. Normally in the K-Jet system when you kick on the A/C, the IACV opens up, moves more air through the air flow meter, drops the plate, and injects more fuel. I'm not sure whether the car should keep control of that so the MAP sensor can detect the drop in pressure, or whether the MS2 should gain control of it for cold-start and fast-idle. This is the one part that has genuinely stumped me. I'm probably not going on a junkyard run anytime soon anyway, considering the rain that's been coming down the past couple of days and what's being predicted.
