Honda Element with 5MT

Post by Bill B »

Have not posted in a while. Picked up a used 2007 Honda Element EX AWD with a 5MT. I did a search on Auto Trader when looking for an Element, and found there to be only be 15 for sale by priviate owners with a 5MT, and that was a nationwide search. Of those 15, one was located less that 20 minutes from my house and had 27000 miles on it. My Element with the MT is getting better gas mileage than the EPA rating. The EPA actually rates the Automatic Element as getting better fuel economy. There is a 6 speed conversion for Element, but not sure how that affects fuel ecomony. Gotta say it has been a fun vehicle to drive and own, in addition to being a nice little hauler if you need to move something.

I tried to post an avatar photo but the extension may have been wrong or the size to large. Will have to get some more pics.

Elements are nice cars. My house mate's fiancée owns one and it's extremely versatile.

You're out of your Element - get back inside before someone else notices!

The Element does come in a manual, but Honda has not sold very many of them. It has one of those funky shifters on the dash (to save floor space) that looks similar to a video game controller. I thought at first it would be akward to shift, but it has not been. Here is a link to a pic of the Honda shifter.

That's different. And new to my eyes.

It does appear awkward to shift but I guess it isn't.

I think only the EP3s(funny looking Si) had that shifter setup. I personally think it's great.
