You should have just used a long ethernet cable with one end cut off and tapped to the backside of the car's OBDII connector.

Thats more effort. Note also that its roughly 20* outside and I would need to spend half an hour or more out there to do that. Additionally, this is easier to switch to another vehicle if the need arises.

You're right about the effort and temperature.
Leaving your original ScanGauge cable free makes it FAR easier to switch to another car anytime you want, though.

Yeah. Youre just jealous.
Kevin, thoughts on the location?
EDIT: I see now that you commented on SL. Thats what I get for coming to a generic car forum before brand specific.

Yeah, I was gonna comment here again but it felt redundant to me. I understand you posting this in both places because there are two almost entirely different audiences... but both my replies would be just to you.
Still, it bears repeating: nice job! I've always been impressed with how casually you can come up with excellent quality DIY solutions like this!

Re: Watkins' Viggen Pics and Projects
With the wheels, I have a legitimate reason to bump this thread up.
So heres the deal. Car came with aftermarket wheels. They were beat to shit: curb rash, scratches, oxidation, chipped clearcoat, etc. Winter and club memberships lead me to get a $125 set of wheels for winter tires so I could refinish my good wheels. Ive now done so.
Before they looked like this:
I hit them with Aircraft Remover, then sanded the weakened paint down to bare metal. Filled a few damaged parts. Two coats of self etching primer left them like this
I put on four coats of Rustoleum graphite wheel paint and three coats of clear. Theyre wrapped in BF Goodrich g-Force Sport tires in 215/45-17 size:

And now, they look like this:
I think they look significantly better than the original color. Car looks more aggressive and oddly enough I think it looks lower.

Your fat boat of a car makes those wheels look laughably tiny.

Re: Watkins' Viggen Pics and Projects
Chris, I must admit that after seeing the wheels now and seeing them in person when you just bought the car - they looked good then but they look much better now.
