As you all probably heard, I bought an engine off of a guy from RX7club several weeks ago, it arrived from SC in 4 days. I have to say, shipping an engine was much cheaper than I expected, Yellow Freight FTW!

Packaged very excellently:

Finally bought an engine stand:

Manifolds and stuff:

Then I bought more stuff:

A bunch of gaskets got here today:
lower intake manifold-to-block gasket ($40  )
Image

middle-to-lower intake gasket and upper-to-middle gasket
Image

Water pump housing-to-block and WP-to-housing gaskets
Image

vacuum orifice and BAC gasket

My dumb ass forgot to order an exhaust manifold gasket. No big deal, I'll toss it in with the next batch of stuff from Mazdatrix (I'll be getting a clutch, motor mounts, and possibly an oil pan baffle from them in due time)

Noice! Lets get FC running! I just noticed something about OEM Japanese automaker replacement parts bags. They all say *automaker name here* genuine parts. They must all use the same template and just swap out the logos, name and company colors  .

Does it look anything like the Genuine GM Parts Toyota badge package?

No shit. My dad blew a disk lifting the front end of a 1980's John Deere garden tractor. Granted, his back wasn't in good condition anyway... I've had to lift the front end of that thing a couple times, but I'm extremely damn careful when I do.

Fixed.

I also would like to see it running, though.

I lifted mine and while the front end was airborne the wheels suddenly turned to one side, pinching my fingers such that if I put it down I might lose a finger. I had to yell really loud for my wife and wait, holding the front end up, until she came out and turned it straight. That sucked.

Lesson learned: Don't lift it by the axle or steering parts.

Also for those who have them, put the weights on the back end to put more weight on the other side of the rear axle. Mechanical advantage FTW!

Thats too generic. I specified a part of physics. I win more than you win

Speaking of risking back injury, I removed my transmission from this configuration by myself a while ago:

It actually wasn't that bad. Probably weighs like 60-70 pounds; bear hug, lift, bend at the knees, set down. My shirt got hella dirty though.
