Re: Phil's '95 VW Golf Sport (Updated: To-Do List, new vid)
Installed 20mm spacers in the rear today. I need air tools and a die grinder, the spacers came off a mk4 but they were 5x100/4x100 pattern. Thing is, the center bore was shaped for a mk4 hub and the mk3 hub is different (though it's the same centerbore diameter) so I just dremel'd* the crap out of it until it fit
* = this is why I wanted a die grinder...it took like 3 frustrating days to dremel it out, and i probably chopped a good percentage of life outta my dremel lol.
This is how she's sitting at the moment; needs moar low though:
Oh, and I'm working on a new video, you should check it out =D
Up next: I just ordered my USRT shift linkage parts. Why? Here

I meant to express that in my post I mean, BBS RS's are nice, but holy crap, when I see a video of H2Oi and 90% of the cars have BBS RS's on stretched tires, scraped oil pans, and ride height so low you can't stick your key fob under it flat-wise, it's time to give it up.watkins wrote:Which is why I like it94Corolla5Speed wrote:Phil, your Golf is hot. Haha. The video is posted on Xanga because that's the only way I can share a Facebook video, it needs to be embedded HTML-wise into another page.
Thanks for all the positive comments, I never post pics of my car on the vortex because they're so into the sheep mentality that when someone does something different (like my car) they all scream "ricer" and "n00b"
I'm not going to slam it though, I just want a 1 finger wheelgap all the way around. Right now it's 3 in the rear, 2 in the front...so about 15mm / 0.5-inches lower than where it's sitting and it'll be money. That's where it's going to be once I get my coilovers.
I think cars look kinda odd when the wheelgap curve doesn't follow the tire curve because it's too low. One of the few cars that look proper slammed are the mk5 VW's, e.g.:
EDIT: I love the irony in that my car is relatively high, yet my front lip still has scrape marks on it in that pic

Stance GET!!
well, almost.
One more finger lower and I will be so happy. I do love how the rear's almost flush though, it looks a lot better than before.
