2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD
Performance: 4
Handling: 5
Practicality: 5
Reliability: 5
Cost to own: 2.5
Feasibility of Sexual Encounters: 5
Preface: My friend let me use his truck while he drove my Grand Prix to Texas for gas mileage. I drove the truck for just about 2-weeks.
Performance: Performance was good for a truck of this size! This Silverado had the 6.0L V8 (300hp / 360ft-lbs). The truck was just about as fast as you would expect, but the truck has superb power around town, meaning that you could really get going.
I gave the performance a 7 because of the electronic throttle control - it seemed to take an edge off the power. Now, I hate to sound like an old man, but I don't really like electronic throttle because of a lack of response and the light pedal. ETC maybe good for some people, however, its just something I don't like.
Handling: Handling was good for this truck ("truck" being the operative word). Steering wheel response is better that what you would expect. It is just a little numb and a little woolly but it never feels out of hand. The steering is not too sharp, which is good in a truck - but the truck handles like its on your side.
Practicality: If you pull trailers a lot, this is a good truck for you. This one had 4 doors, so it was very practical. As with many trucks, this one has a pretty large, open trunk.
Reliability: What's more reliable than a big block Chevy? A/C was cold as balls, if I remember correctly.
Cost to own: Gets about 10MPG in town and 16-17MPG on the highway at 65mph. Tires are expensive...
Feasibility of Sexual encounters: Lots and lots of room. Also, you can cuddle/fist with her in the bed. You can also tote around about a million-and-a-half condoms in the bed (more if you get the camper). There's a deep compartment where you can keep your "things". CD player and sound system is really good for slow make out songs. Seats are comfy, even in back!

That doesn't sound good at all. Balls tend to be rather warm. The A/C in my GM truck is as cold as a witch's tit. That might need to be fixed.ihartmacz wrote:A/C was cold as balls, if I remember correctly.

Cost to own: not to mention that 4 door trucks are significantly more expensive than others. This truck new was at least $25000, or at least a similarly equipped model today would be.
Been driving stick since March of 2009

I think he meant the initial purchase price. I've built pickups online before, and when you change from a standard cab to a crew cab or whatever it's called, the price jumps up at least $10,000.comingbackdown wrote:Insurance = rape.Silverado wrote:Cost to own: not to mention that 4 door trucks are significantly more expensive than others. Re: 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD
They really have to sell the basic regular cab models very cheap, those are work trucks for people who don't have money. If they don't sell them that cheap, they don't sell them at all. Even if they're not making a net profit they need market share and vehicles on the road to help sell the more profitable models.ElectroGhandi wrote: I think he meant the initial purchase price. Those rubber floors strongly resemble rhino lining already...and they're a lot cheaper.

Re: 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD
My experience is that stuff gets under it and causes scratches which then rust. Giant tub of "rubberized undercoating" at Ricerzone covered in a layer of bed coating should work.

rhinoliner is the shit. the shit. the shit. the shit. its tough as nails and made my front bumper look brand new. (before the rhinoliner it was one continuous hunk of rust)watkins wrote:Thats what I would get. Except Id take it out and Rhinoline it instead
me and my dad were just saying not to long ago about how funny it would be to get a hummer, a real one, no H2, H3 bullshit, and make the entire paintjob rhinoliner. what the f*ck would ever ding your car? you could run into a tree without marking anything up bad enough where a little wipe with a towel would get the mark off.
