thanks for not giving away too much of the film. i want to see it, but only when it hits the dollar theatre . aaron doesn't b/c Q isn't in it and b/c the new bond is a pussy and won't learn to drive stick. i saw casino royale in theatres, and aaron's getting (making) me watch the older ones....dr. no, goldeneye, and amore, but i can't remember teh names. too early

thought the movie was rubbish. could not follow what was going on at all

but i thought the opening sequence was pretty sick w/ the alfa romeos and the aston martin

I thought it was too much of a Borne movie, not a Bond one. The villain was weak and was not a Bond villain at all. Oh no! Not double!

Over time the gadgetry has declined to almost nothing. Now the most gadgetry I see is a 32-can pop-top case of whoop-ass.
There are remarkably less firefights as well, it's mostly beating the crap outta someone with their fists.

Exactly! Brutal hand to hand isn't bad, but you need a gunfight every once in a while. The new Bond is no match for the old Bonds. And for shit's sakes, James Bond drives a STICK! How weak is an actor who refuses to learn to drive a stick to play an epic role that is basically filling giant shoes? If you get a role, you do whatever you have to do to play it. Connery did plenty of research to play James Bond. He even wound up sleeping in the suits he was to wear as Bond.

Halle Berry refused to bathe to get into the role for Gothika. Yes, that's really gross and kinda scary, but that's the kind of crap you do when you truly live and breathe acting.

I wonder what the hell has changed. They've gone back to a Bond similar to Timothy Dalton. When they tried the serious and brutal approach with Dalton, the ticket sales and revenue for the films tanked. So, what, is the new dumbed down generation not appreciative of wit, plot, and firefights? Q was one of my favorite parts of the series. There are some undeniably classic moments there. James Bond wouldn't exist without the help of Q. The gadgets need to come back, right like now.

I haven't even seen the new films yet, and I'm disappointed in the new Bond. He's not suave enough to be Bond. His accent is off, etc. It's all too brutal, too harsh, too real. James Bond is a man who uses drink, women, and wit to deal with the intense strain of being a government killing machine, and suffering the massive psychological and physical trauma of the job. The only time a serious Bond was called for would have been in Diamonds Are Forever (After Blofeld killed his wife) and Licence To Kill, where a good friend of his was murdered and he was out for blood. The rest was humor and wit, and should've been. For crying out loud, Diamonds Are Forever even had wit. As the Blofeld look-alike rolls into the (whatever that mud shit was) and Connery cranks the heat up, he smiles, and (with a touch of exhaustion from the fight, and twisted pleasure at getting revenge) simply says "Welcome to Hell, Blofeld".

The new Bond just doesn't cut it.
Connery, Lazenby, and Brosnan are my favorites.
