No, actually, it works off a small electric pump in the trunk. As long as the car has a charged battery, the central locking works.

My Buick is like that. You turn the key one way to unlock half of the doors and the other way to lock half of the doors. No fob.
What you did there.

I see it. 8)

Sorry for the dark. Well, not really very sorry.

There's no trunk release on the key fob. You have to open it with the key which sets of the alarm unless you unlock the doors first.

I understood that...I was laughing because I don't even have a door button, I gotta use keys for everything.

Actually, looking at it now, I was kinda being a dick. I meant it in jest for everyone to laugh at me, not to laugh at you.

I have to use a single key for everything. Aren't I living in luxury!
I still have yet to move the antenna for the remote locks to improve the reliability, but frankly I like using the regular key more.

I just thought you meant I used a weird term for it or something.

What was up with 80's cars having a separate key for doors and ignition?

Wasn't it common practice before then? I thought it was always that way until the 1990s. I figured it was just easier not to have to make matching ignition and door locks.

However, there is of course the arguable potential for better security. If someone cuts a key to work your door, they won't be able to start the vehicle. I doubt that's a worthwhile issue...

It may have been, I don't really have any experience with pre 1980's cars.
