Hello

Post by Burkemotorcross »

Hello, my name is Chris and i am 17 years old male. I discovered your site about 6 months ago when i started driving my first car, a 1987 Toyota Camry(a stick of course). I learned how to drive a stick when i was about 13 years old with an my dad acquired an old 1971 MGB from a friend and he taught me how to drive around in an open field away from all objects, and I have been hooked ever since. My dad told me around this same time that he wouldnt let me get my license without knowing how to drive a manual, so i had plenty of time to practice. :) Anyway, i drove my toyota for about 4 months before i bought my second and current vehicle, my 1997 Jeep Cherokee(5 speed). i thought that i would introduce myself to the StandardShift community, so please reply and introduce yourselves.

P.S.-- I also am interested in vintage motorcross, especially the 70's era Honda Elsinores

Glad to have you with us, Burkemotorcross!

Toyota's last forever - I learned much of my stick shifting on an '86 Corolla coupe. Boy was that thing fun. I didn't know stick before I got my license, but that's mainly because I didn't have a license.

Sadly, no. I was 26 when I started to learn to drive a manual...four months ago in fact! Yay for improving.

I did all my driving lessons in a manual car, so yes. Over here, if you learn and pass your test in an automatic car, you get a licence that's restricted to automatics only (which hardly anyone would want, since manual cars are the majority here).
