Miata driver in Indiana - new to manuals

Post by Twiggy »

I bought a '95 Miata in February, not knowing how to drive a stick at all, and figured, heck, I might as well learn now. It was a rough and long learning curve, and my launches/shifts aren't perfectly smooth yet , but I drive to work every day just fine.

I found this forum a few weeks ago, and I haven't heard of half of the stuff on here . I've tried a few experimental rev-matches during downshifts and it really helped get my extremely rough downshifts smooth!

All I gotta say is, I don't want to go back to automatics.

Welcome! Seems like most of us stumbled upon this site somewhat by chance looking for tips.

Also, there's a video somewhere of Miata racing courtesy of the local pro racer, Gary Sheehan... anyone know where it is? It's applicable..

Don't let him drive your car - it will look like a pillow fight afterward!

Wow, thanks for the welcome guys!

Haha, well, I might be in Chicago sometime this summer, but my car doesn't usually get picked for road trips with friends
