Actually that would mean a 3 series with a fuel injected 2.3L engine
I thought it was funny that they would round to two decimal places. Image

Welcome back man! Congrats on the new car. Was it you who had a VW (maybe a Rabbit) before?

Aye, however my 325 has a 2.7l engine, as does the 325e and 325es. But, 325i and 325is have the 2.5l. So as you can see, there are slight variances.

Indeed there are. There are no real rules to anything in car naming. The one exception that I can think of is Saab. All models start with a 9, which indicates civilian. This comes from the days when Saab cars and Saab jets were still made by the same company.

Jk man, welcome (back).

I think the 323 had the 2.5 litre I6, IIRC. I believe they named it like this to make the 328 look better. Ok, found it....

"The 2.5 L M50B25 used in the 325 models was replaced in 1996 with the 2.8 L M52B28, creating the 328i line. Another 2.5 L engine, the M52B25, was reintroduced in 1998 but the cars were sold as 323 rather than 325."
