I hear what you're saying but I still enjoy driving a big V8 even if I'm just cruising. Starting it up in the morning is always pleasant.

Welcome, I'm the resident gear-grinder.
Might I suggest a Mini? I sat in a couple at an auto show yesterday and they're quite nice cars.
