Trinidadian Here
Hey guys... First off I think this site ROCKSSS ..... Currently, I am interested in getting a 5-speed VTI civic... I haven't driven manual in years and I am a bit afraid to take the car on the road, for fear of stalling and embarrassing myself... Any tips?
Much appreciated....

Welcome to the site.
I would advice that you get a RWD or AWD car instead of that FWD...wrong wheel drive...Civic. What does VTI mean btw?

Welcome!
Yes, it really is in your mind. You'll be just fine. Everyone stalls and it's gonna happen to you. Don't worry about it too much.

AWD costs more, wastes more fuel, can be more expensive to maintain. Not everyone needs RWD. A FWD Civic is just fine as an economy/commuter car.Leedeth wrote:Welcome to the site.

Shifting an Amish transmission is like falling off a bicycle. If you've done it once, it is easy to learn how to do it again.manual_trini wrote:Hey guys... First off I think this site ROCKSSS ..... Welcome, great to see more international visitors
I'd suggest finding an empty parking spot or quiet street to practice on first before venturing into traffic.

You know, when I first saw the thread title, I was trying to figure out what kind of joke about Canada it was to write "Trinadian", guessing something to do with being three people...then I re-read it. Welcome.
FWD is fine.

AWD drinks too much gas.. And there was a recent increase in gas prices.... I think the VTI is a good startup for me.. It got a 240 km/hr top speed and its manual.... Mods can be accessed easily here, if necessary...
I just have to prepare myself for stalling in the roads, traffic lights etc but I hope I can overcome the embarrassment

Welcome from a fellow Caribbean driver!
I do know that T&T is quite mountainous... should be a great place to shift, just like in Puerto Rico's countryside! (Only that we move on the right side of the road, unlike you folks...)

j_ortiz, yea we drive on the left side... The bad thing is that we are in the "dry" season but yet still experiencing rain, so sometimes there are landslides
