Classy sedan comes back bigger, stronger

Post by Standardshifter »

"I loved the outside, loved the ride, was less than impressed with the interior, which seemed cheap compared to its foreign competitors, and bemoaned the fact that the manual transmission (and Lincoln was aiming this car at performance enthusiasts) was available only with the V-6 engine, not the V-8."

"Let's moan first. Not only did the manual transmission disappear from the V-6, it did not appear in the V-8. The folks at Lincoln say there just wasn't enough demand for the manual - but I wonder if that might have been different had it been offered in the V-8, which is where performance types likely would have turned in the first place."

It is a shame that the LS lost the manual transmission, even if it was only offered with the V6. Perhaps if Lincoln improves its performance image, it may make a comeback.
