Everyone remembers their first time. Their first time driving a stick shift that is. If you are learning to drive one in Lakewood Ohio, you might be seeing some Blue Lights in your rearview mirror. A man was pulled over after someone reported him as a drunk driver. As it turned out he was not doing Jager shots, but just learning to drive a stick shift.

Man, that would be something that I wouldn't ever forget! Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't drivers who are learning to drive with a manual transmission supposed to start out on an area that's clear from the public road. That, and how could the driver assume that the manual learner was drunk if he was only trying to learn how to truly drive?Bill B wrote:Everyone remembers their first time. I have to ask how bad somebody, even a novice, would have to be to appear drunk? When I was learning, which I still am - but now I'm working more on consistency, I chirped the tires more than I'd like because I'd give it too much gas, but maintaining a straight line was never an issue.

Do you now consistently chirp the tires?tankinbeans wrote:When I was learning, which I still am - but now I'm working more on consistency, I chirped the tires more than I'd like because I'd give it too much gas

Today I had them chirping pretty nicely going 50 on a freeway exit into a continuation lane running late for work.
Re: Police Blotter: Man Pulled Over For Driving A Stick Shif
My guess would be bucking, stop and go, chirping of tires, etc... The normal stuff for a new manual driver if they're super nervous/having a bad day.tankinbeans wrote:I have to ask how bad somebody, even a novice, would have to be to appear drunk?
