Why do we know HP/torque, length/width/height to the millimeter, and weight distribution to the percent, but not even a clue as to weight?

Interesting that it's direct and port injected. I've heard that direct injection loses some mid-range torque but I don't know why. Any thoughts on that?

Wow....too bad they didn't stick closer to the concept in terms of styling. I remember seeing the concept car at the NY International Auto Show and thinking that it looked really aggressive. I realize that most concept cars get toned down for production, but this car was REALLY toned down. Hopefully the Subaru version looks better.

There have been some really big issues with carbon build-up on direct injected engines for years now. If you do some research, you'll find some real horror stories. I believe Lexus was the first to address (and basically solve) the issue by using port injection along with DI on their IS series cars. From what I've read, the engines are primarily DI and use the port injection to occasionally keep the valves clean.

I don't agree with the "toned down" reference. This looks a lot more "out there" than the concept to me.

The concept was a sleek, elegant, well-harmonized design with some edgy features. Where they came up with the arbitrary grotesque bulges and creases is a mystery. That front fender bulge is about twice the size of anything that would make sense with the surrounding contours. Some kind of a sick joke, it has to be...

My "toned down" comment was about the aggressiveness of the design. The concept was very aggressive looking, from every angle. The production car is just a mess of strange body lines & bulges and looks horrible from the rear. That's how I see it...

BTW, altezza tails on a newly designed car is a horrible idea. I thought we were past that silliness?

Here's an interesting picture. Even though I saw the concept car up close at the NY Auto Show, I didn't realize just how small it is... The Miata is only a little smaller.

I for one, am looking forward immensely to driving one of these cars. It's pretty much a fixed-roof Miata.
