Chinese Volvos, anyone?

Looks like Ford isn't doing much better. These days, every one is hurting. But I'm glad to see that Volvo won't get Saabed.

Geely is already known for making and selling (in China only) replica cars - completely fake cars that look identical to cars made by other major brands (but have none of the safety engineering; they are deathtraps).

I recall hearing somewhere that some of the Chinese cars they crash-tested in Europe couple of years ago (with interesting results) were pretty much copies of European and Japanese models, but used normal steel instead of high-strength alloys in critical structures, basically turning originally safe designs into death traps.

There's quite many videos of Chinese cars in YouTube. It's kind of strange to see a modern-looking car crumble like that.

Im much happier to see Saab retire semi-honorably than have this be the outcome.

Well, so much for Volvos being the safest cars on the road...

When eye was a boy, all the stuph from Japan was cheap junk. We didn't worry about safety, just that they weren't durable products.

The Japanese have had the Corora for decades...I figured that joke was all worn out.
