How many gears you got???

Post by Shadow »

Not sure if this has been asked here already, but I didn't see a poll or anything after a quick search.

Anyway, tell us how many forward gear ratios your manual transmission vehicle has. If you have more than one manual transmission vehicle, then use the one you drive most.

I have a 5 speed made by Getrag, but I forget the exact number. My car could definitely use a 6th speed, especially for the freeway. Highway driving is fine in 5th, but freeway is a bit loud.

Potential for an interesting poll. 6-speed here. In fact, my last 4 cars have been 6-speed.

Six here. My last three cars were all 5-speeds. I for sure like having one more.

Somehow I had a guess that you were the one who answered 4 speed.

If the 6 speed from the Focus ST could bolt right into my car without losing the clutch feel that I have right now I would swap it when I have some extra money. I think it could prove to return even better mileage by being able to rev lower in more situations. I don't know if that would mess anything up though.

I think the engines are related.

Really? Wow....you noob. LOL

I'm getting old. When I learned to drive, 6-speed manuals didn't exist....but 5-speeds did, so I guess I'm not THAT old.

For sure it will be interesting. I'm actually surprised it hasn't been polled before. I figured 5-speeds would be most popular on the forum and so far it looks like that's the way the poll is heading.
