2015 Smart ForTwo to get 6-speed manual

The worst car I ever drove was a Smart ForTwo that I rented for a week and drove across Italy. My biggest gripe was its dreadful automatic (or automated manual, whatever) transmission that had a mind of its own, responding to driver inputs reluctantly and only after mulling them over. I always felt that this embarrassment of a car would have been somewhat tolerable if it had a manual transmission.

Well, it seems Daimler has seen the light. In June 2014, they will apparently unveil a 2015 model that is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, at least in base-level trim. I don't know if this version will be offered in the U.S., but still, the news can only be seen as a positive step.

A manual still does not redeem that car. A nieche vehicle that sucked at being a niche vehicle.

There's a teenager around here who drives one. Always makes me laugh.

I get these in the city. That's the ONLY environment that they are beneficial. I've loved in the city and I can see how it would work as a car that's easy to park anywhere.

However, I see people in suburbs own these. That's just silly because the only redeeming quality about that car has been lost there.

I'd be interested to know if they have significantly improved the gas mileage. Because yeah, it's a good car for a short city commute. That's. About. It. Oh, and parking two in the size of one parking space. That's semi-useful/hilarious.

Sorry, they only made a Maybach, not a Brabus Roadster. And now that Maybach is gone (TIL), no more to be had.
