I think that's what my '79 Dodge pickup was. Second was kind of high - if you didn't get a decent amount of rpm in 1st it would lug a little in 2nd. 4th was overdrive. Somewhere online, maybe allpar.com I recently saw the gear ratios I had (I believe) for the first time. 3rd gear was 1.00, 4th was .73
If I found a mid or late 90's Ford F150 with a manual shift I would have bought it. I do like the Dakota though.

I guess it just depends upon my mood. If I'm in the mood for a quiet and easy cruise, overdrive is used even on back roads.
You can pull from 30-35 in 6th gear? That's quite a nice engine the Audi has.
Low end torque is a wonderful thing. Thats why I love magic snails.

On level ground, no problem. I wouldn't try it going up a hill though. The engine makes max torque at just 1500 rpm, so it really has no problems at low rpm in high gear.

That '79 Dodge had the NPG A-833 transmission. They flipt the shift lever so that 4th was where 3rd would be and they made 3rd an overdrive ratio and it was where 4th should be. Brilliant engineering!
