Semi Economy

I tend to drive for economy, but run it out hard periodically. :D

well, according to the poll I'm in the economy club :D

I guess I don't really gas it that much, since my car is only ~120hp, I tend to take it easy on normal roads. Although when there are other fast cars, I'm not afraid to match their speed. I also tend to pass 95% of cars on highway

Moderate acceleration, no short-shitting, and plenty of WOT when I'm feeling froggy. I'm still pulling 32-37 mpg without any stupid fuel saving gubbins.

I have a wimpy 120hp engine in my base MINI Cooper, so I NEED to drive it hard just to keep up. In fact, that's what I like about it - feeling like you're going 80 when the speedo only reads 35.

Plus, I'm planning to sell it soon so I've been having fun with it :-)

It's tough to pigeonhole myself into these categories. Heavy throttle/WOT (depending on vehicle) + short shifting (shorter than anyone on this forum, I reckon). I still have to back off and accelerate slower if I'm not at the front of the line at the red light.

I don't seek thrills in acceleration or top speed; that gets WAY too expensive way too fast between fines, insurance rate hikes, and of course fuel usage -- and I get addicted and need more and more speed, which is totally unsustainable (unlike beating my MPG records, for which I can always keep upping the ante, though lately I haven't the patience for that).

I do squeeze every mph I can out of my tires on turns though. They don't seem to bother with you for doing that, and it contributes to efficiency too.

My driving style depends on if I have any passengers.

If it's my Mom or Dad, I will get on clutch/off gas slower and shift slower. My friends don't give a crap so I will shift quick and clutch in fast. However, I don't take my car up 5K+ everyday, but will at times.. 4K pretty much all the time as that's where my power band starts.

Semi-hard, I guess. I don't really pay attention to fuel economy (unless I'm running out of gas), but I don't exactly rice out everywhere. My style tends to be slightly aggressive in a considerate sort of way. I think the rpm ranges should not be in the poll because every car is different. My normal shifting point is 3.5k-4k rpm when I'm not in a rush to get anywhere.

My driving style varies greatly....so much that I can fit into any of those categories depending on my mood.

Semi-economy with occasional stints of balls-to-the-wall hoonage. Well, in the FC, that is (was :(). Now that I drive the automatic Focus most of the time, it's pointless to do anything other than economy :| .

tankinbeans - It has two doors, so I suppose it's a coupe with a small "c." But it's not a "Coupe" coupe with the backward baseball cap. I can't make sense of MINI's model names.

ClutchDisc - I'll put you in the mix with "free" and let you know if your bid ends up winning :-) Actually, I was thinking a Cooper would keep holycow out of trouble and also hit his fuel economy targets. But, he would be giving up a lot of back-seat legroom ...
