My girlfriend drove a friend's car once and she didn't do too bad. She's not against it but she isn't like 'ooh teach me to drive a manual!'

I voted for: Yes, though their driving is quite rough, and stalling does happen.

I've taught two of my ex's how to drive stick (giggity). One of them now drives an old standard Toyota Pickup.

My ex-girlfriend learned (incorrectly) how to drive on an old 5spd S-10. I taught her how to correctly drive in the Mustang, but she'll probably never drive the Z lol.

My ex had a driver's licence, so in theory she could drive stick, but I got the impression that she had only driven a car one or two times after getting it.

My wife as awful at it but she doesn't stall. She's deathly afraid to shift. She thinks you can't shift until the engine is screaming because her dad taught her in an ancient crappy S10 that had no soundproofing and an underpowered engine.

Same thing here, cowman. Whoever taught her previously wasn't very good at it. She didn't know that she was supposed to clutch in when coming to a full stop, Or to put the car into neutral. She told me she kept stalling when she got to stop signs. I let her drive my Si one day. She didn't stall which shocked me, but she also never let her foot off the gas when it came time to shift. :x . That driving lesson ended quickly.

Oh yeah, I forgot the part about not letting off the gas during the shift.

The fiancee is kinda scared to learn and over thinks things. She recently decided to keep bothering me to teach her again. Not happening on the Viggen. Not ever, no way.

One of my exes does. Duh.

As for now, no. Not yet, and she's technically not my girlfriend... yet...
(no sick jokes, please. Don't make me find you and hit you. I wouldn't want to mar your face...)

Boyfriend?? Tranny??.................sorry. :(

On topic: I used to go out with this girl who had an interest in learning (her parents drove standard and she practiced on their car) and she said she would never buy an automatic.........then she did. Hasn't driven standard since.

Off topic:
No, we're in the dating phase, but let's just say she more than likes me, and I've been told my chances are better than anyone else's pretty much.

On topic:
THAT SUCKS! Who would EVER learn on a standard, shoot their mouth off like that, and then dive into a slushbox?
Everybody I've gotten to try driving one hasn't willingly gone back since. (Note: I said willingly, but that shouldn't be a problem for too awful long for the one who doesn't have a choice.)

Well she also made the swap to dating women. Probably the reason things cooled between us.
