No. Straight up take it off and put nothing back on. There's still the ac pusher fan on the front for the extra hot 102* days.

Mine hasn't overheated since.

You don't read the warnings under the hood do you. It says exactly that.

Every electric-fan equipped car is like that, not just the latest luxury cars. I think the first car where I saw it was my 1997 Pontiac Grand Am...certainly not a luxo model.

They started doing that to get rid of underhood heat that was boiling the fuel out of the carburetor float bowls way back when.

Mostly, you don't need it to do that when you've got fuel digestion instead of a carb. Now if you had a water-cooled turbo, you might want the rajator fan, water pump & oil pump to be running after you shut it down.

Turbo timers are for idiots. A minute of gentle driving before shutting the car off is all it takes to cool a turbo.

So who drives gentle on the way home from work on a Friday?

didn't you want a turbo timer for the saab at one point? and i thought most cars that had electric fans were FWD because the engine isn't in a position to run the fan off the crank. although i suppose an electric fan on a longitudinal layout motor could still benefit from being fully shut off, and not have to worry about a fan clutch

E-fans are a common upgrade for pickup truck owners wanting to squeeze out a little more performance. Late-model GM pickups come with them from the factory.

They're lighter, easier to control, don't use the engine's horsepower when it's making maximum power, and can run when the vehicle is shut off.

Mechanical fans are generally driven by the crankshaft, not a belt. They have a thermally-triggered clutch so they don't run all the time (except really ancient ones). They are indeed louder when they're running.

I have a belt driven fan (which also drives the water pump), and also does not have a clutch.

My fan is attached to the water pump pulley, with a clutch. Hopefully I'll be able to get an electric fan soon. There's really no performance increase despite what some of the internetz say (on FCs at least), but getting rid of that big ol' fan shroud really opens up the engine bay and makes everything look a little tidier.
