Even if it is 7 speed manual, I'd love it. Having 7 gears doesn't mean that you have to go through all of them while upshifting while I certainly would :D Exactly. The clutch cable being out of adjustment should not really cause it to do that. I am not as mechanically adept as some of the others in the old VW hobby. The weld on the Bowden tube that holds the clutch cable came loose. This is a common problem in older aircooled VWs and will usually result in some clutch chatter.

Just a general but relevant question, does anyone here have a non-synchromesh manual transmission in their car? Don't have one, but the first manual that I drove was a 1963 Buick Special with a 3 speed on the column and a non syncro first gear. I later in college had a 1973 Maverick with a 3 speed ...
